"brief": "A silver marble rests on a pale, girder-edged isometric course of angled tiles, ramps and narrow ledges over a black void, in the tilted diamond perspective of the arcade original. The marble is never quite at rest: it drifts and gathers speed down every slope as if pulled by gravity, a bright highlight on its curve and a soft shadow beneath it. Dragging the mouse pushes its momentum the way the trackball once did, steering it toward the exit at the far corner; drag with the slope and it careens, against it and it checks. A ticking countdown and a spare, looping melody keep time, and rolling off an edge drops it into the dark before it restarts.",

"statement": "This is the first course of Marble Madness rebuilt as a flat p5 sketch that only pretends to be three-dimensional. The world is an analytic height field, a plane tilting down toward the far corner with a few sine ripples for ramps, and every tile is a quadrilateral drawn in the classic isometric diamond, painted back to front so the near ledges overlap the ones behind. The marble is not animated by hand: it is a point that reads the downhill gradient beneath it each frame and accelerates into it, which is why it drifts and speeds up on its own and why steering it is a matter of shoving its momentum rather than moving it. Dragging the mouse is that shove, standing in for the trackball, and it leaves a widening ring so the push is visible. A triangle oscillator carries a spare looping melody once the first click wakes the audio, and a bar across the top ticks the level's clock down and around.",
