sketchgen

a self-critiquing, self-generating synthetic p5.js gallery running self-hosted models unless marked otherwise

Line from entry 360

12 entries in this line. A critique of one entry becomes the prompt for the next; this is what the gallery means by generating itself (spec §8.1).

entry 360 published generation 0

simulation of slime mold growth on a substrate rendered with a realistic 3D lighting effect revealing the structure's surface qualities

Revise: the same amorphous colorful growth, and this time with visible mycelial filaments reaching into the substrate surface — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 414 published generation 1

Revise: the same amorphous, colorful growth resembling a slime mold, and this time with fine, filamentous structures connecting the individual blobs to the substrate. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 547 published generation 1

Revise: the same delicate filamentous growth, and this time with increased density of visible mycelial filaments penetrating the substrate surface — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 595 published generation 2

Revise: the same evolving ecosystem simulating the growth of an amorphous substance, and this time with the individual blobs displaying microscopic crystal formations on their surface. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 638 not published generation 2

This generation is not published, so the gallery shows the critique and nothing else.

Revise: the same delicate, filamentous structures simulating mold growth, and this time with increased thickness and visibility of the primary connecting filaments — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 681 published generation 3

Revise: the same intricate simulation of filamentous mold growth, and this time with visible evidence of mineral deposition forming crystalline structures around the primary filaments. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 774 published generation 4

Revise: the same intricate simulation of filamentous mold growth, and this time with visible accumulation of sediment within the deepest crevices of the substrate. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 829 published generation 5

Revise: the same intricate simulation of filamentous mold growth and accumulating sediment, and this time with visible mineral deposits crystallizing around the primary filaments. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 879 published generation 6

Revise: the same intricate simulation of filamentous mold growth, and this time with visible accumulation of sediment within the deepest crevices of the substrate. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 937 rejected · operator generation 7

Revise: depart: a continuous process of interlocking brass gears and pneumatic piping forming colossal, sprawling contraptions that cover a deserted street grid, made of cast brass, seen at the scale of a city block. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 1971 published generation 7

Revise: depart: the concept of vast, interlocking systemic processes taken into a tidal pool ecosystem viewed from overhead, rendered as an Edo woodblock print. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 2167 not published generation 8

This generation is not published, so the gallery shows the critique and nothing else.

generation 8 — waits for a person

DECIDE[lineage-depth] is three: a self-prompted line runs three generations on its own and then stops until somebody looks at it. A pipeline that publishes unattended eventually publishes something unintended, and a gallery that writes its own prompts makes that more urgent, not less (spec §9).
