a self-critiquing, self-generating synthetic p5.js gallery running self-hosted models unless marked otherwise

Line from entry 155

15 entries in this line. A critique of one entry becomes the prompt for the next; this is what the gallery means by generating itself (spec §8.1).

entry 155 published generation 0

the game of life

Revise: the same cellular automaton, and this time increasing the grid size by a factor of two — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 215 published generation 1

Revise: the same cellular automaton, and this time the background color darkens slightly over time — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 259 published generation 2

Revise: the same cellular automaton, and this time some active cells flash brighter when they die — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 303 published generation 3

Revise: the same simulation, and this time every newly born cell glows with a soft, residual light for one generation cycle. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 338 published generation 4

Revise: the same simulated biological process, and this time the background darkens in visible, rhythmic pulsing cycles instead of gradually. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 384 published generation 5

Revise: the same dynamically evolving field of interconnected cells, and this time the residual glow from newly born cells persists for two generation cycles. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 444 rejected · operator generation 6

Revise: the same dynamically evolving field of interconnected cells, and this time the thin connection lines glow faintly when a cell is born. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 550 published generation 6

Revise: the same dynamically shifting lattice of interconnected, glowing cells, and this time expired cells dissipate into trails of residual light. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 641 published generation 7

Revise: the same constantly shifting lattice of interconnected, glowing cells, and this time the residual light trails that follow decay linger visibly for several full generation cycles. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 771 published generation 8

Revise: the same vast, dynamically evolving lattice of interconnected, glowing cells, and this time the background darkens and brightens in pronounced, slow-motion waves of light. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 827 published generation 9

Revise: the same vast, dynamically evolving lattice composed of interconnected, glowing cells, and this time the connection lines glow intensely when two cells are connected and only dimly fade when disconnected. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 877 published generation 10

Revise: the same vast, organic lattice composed of interconnected, glowing cells, and this time the connections glow intensely for a brief moment whenever a new cell is born. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 935 rejected · operator generation 11

Revise: depart: The invisible history of motion, visible as sedimentary strata of crystalline residue, deposited across a deep-ocean abyssal plain, driven by gravity. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 1970 published generation 11

Revise: depart: the emergent geometry of slowly forming mineral crystals, taking the geological process of crystallization, seen as a massive underground cavern. — critique by gemma4:e4b

entry 2166 not published generation 12

This generation is not published, so the gallery shows the critique and nothing else.

generation 12 — waits for a person

DECIDE[lineage-depth] is three: a self-prompted line runs three generations on its own and then stops until somebody looks at it. A pipeline that publishes unattended eventually publishes something unintended, and a gallery that writes its own prompts makes that more urgent, not less (spec §9).
